Inspector Douglas C. Fenske began his career with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in 1994 where he was posted to the Caledon Detachment. In 1995, Inspector Fenske transferred to the Greater Toronto Regional Headquarters (as it was known at the time) located in Aurora, ON where he began his lifelong career in traffic. For the past 23 years, Inspector Fenske has dedicated himself to enforcement, education and training in relation to all traffic-related matters, regardless of his position or rank.

Inspector Fenske is a leader and advocate for traffic safety and has delivered training on all aspects of road safety including commercial motor vehicles, traffic collision reconstruction, traffic management, as well as drug and alcohol testing. He has 

mentored many officers along the way, leading by example, and is as committed to traffic safety in 2018 as when he started back in 1994. He continues to be passionate about improving highway safety through enforcement, education, working with road safety stakeholders and mentoring new members.

He has investigated over 1000 serious life threatening or fatal collisions, writing reports and giving expert evidence at all levels of Ontario court of collision causation. In 2008, he organized, developed and provided oversight for the first OPP Highway Enforcement Team (HET) consisting of ten members focused on Criminal Interdiction, weapons, drugs, stolen vehicles and other crimes on GTA highways. Since then, the successful HET concept has been expanded province-wide. From 2013 to 2017, he provided oversight for the Drug Recognition Evaluation and Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) programs for the OPP and was actively involved in making this training available via the Ontario Police College.
