Mass Casualty Commission Special Purpose Committee
Mandate
Advancing recommendations from the Mass Casualty Commission’s (MCC) Final Report which are aimed at the Canadian policing community through initiatives conducted by various CACP general standing and special purpose committees.
Objectives
- Improve critical incident response through interjurisdictional collaboration and coordination in a major critical incident setting, including the adoption of an interoperable command and control model and critical incident training, as well as the proactive sharing of information among agencies.
- Prevent police impersonation cases by adopting national standards to track and safely dispose of police uniform and kit, as well as to mitigate risks associated with the resale of decommissioned police vehicles.
- Advocate for the implementation of victim-centred principles and a trauma-informed approach to police interventions and training, as well as legislation, in support of victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
- Advocate for new initiatives (as required) to effectively address MCC recommendations.
