Special Purpose Committee on the Collection of Indigenous and Racialized Identity Data Through the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Survey
Mandate
Ensure the development of an implementation guide for police that will operationalize the recommendations to enable to collection by police of Indigenous and racialized identity.
Objectives
- Provide practical assessments and decisions to provide guidelines for technical and operational changes/implementation, Records Management System (RMS) changes, training, communications and community engagement.
- Support the development of guidelines and best practices for the analysis, presentation, interpretation and dissemination of the data, including the identification of appropriate benchmarks and approaches for the addition of context during analysis.
- Leveraging the various experiences and knowledge of the members, subject matter experts, and community engagements in addition to work that has already been undertaken by the Canadian Centre for Justice and Community Safety Statistics, police services and jurisdictions.
