Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial

On September 24, 1998, the Government of Canada officially proclaimed the last Sunday of September of every year as Police and Peace Officers' National Memorial Day. It is an annual opportunity to formally express appreciation for the dedication of police and peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and to offer condolences to the surviving families of those who gave their lives in the service of their communities.

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police is proud to join the Canadian Police Association and the Canadian Peace Officer's Memorial Association o form the organizing committee responsible for this annual commemorative event.

The next Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Service will take place on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
