Emergency Management Committee

Mandate

Advocate for operational resiliency, response preparedness and best practices to ensure the protection and security of the people of Canada during situations of natural or man-made disasters.

Objectives

Police services play an integral role within Canadian emergency management response.  As disasters and other emergencies continue to increase in frequency and severity across the country, this committee seeks to ensure that:

  1. Robust operational resiliency (anticipating, preventing and adapting) is bolstered within Canadian police services
  2. Police chiefs and partner stakeholders strengthen relationships, exchange information and recommend best practices
  3. Canadian police chiefs will be adequately engaged with federal authorities in relation to emergency management policy
  4. Disaster response capacity, coordination and new capabilities are enhanced and aligned with the Emergency Management Strategy for Canada.
