Media Advisory - 119th Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Summit and Policing Trade Show

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA – The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) will be holding its 119th Annual Summit and Policing Trade Show in Halifax, Nova Scotia from August 11 to 13, 2024. The Summit is co-hosted with the Halifax Regional Police. The professional program revolves around the theme of ‘The Impact of Global Events on Local Policing”, with a particular focus on effective police leadership and operational strategies for ensuring public and officer safety.

While it will not be possible for the media to attend the plenary sessions, we would be pleased to coordinate interviews with our guest speakers. The following provides a schedule of the media relations initiatives to take place during the Annual Summit:

Sunday, August 11th

The following news releases will be issued:

  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP/Axon Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award
  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP Recognition Award

Monday, August 12th

The following news releases will be issued:

  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP/Motorola Solutions Community Safety & Well-Being Award
  • Announcement of the recipients of the CACP National Police Award for Traffic Safety and Road Safety Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP Policing Partnership Award

Tuesday, August 13th

  • A media conference will take place from 10:10 to 10:45 Atlantic time, in Room 502 of the Halifax Convention Centre located at 1650 Argyle Street to be hosted by CACP President Commissioner Thomas Carrique and Chief Don MacLean of the Halifax Regional Police.
  • The media conference will be followed by an opportunity to visit the Policing Trade Show floor from 10:45 to 11:45 Atlantic time where you can access over 120 booths to learn about the latest innovations in policing and public safety.

  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP International Policing Award
  • Announcement of the recipient of the CACP Award of Excellence for Combating Organized Crime
