The Saint John Police provides policing services to those who live, work and visit the city, by engaging with the community, upholding the law and preserving public safety. The Saint John Police operates with a budget of approximately $26 million.

The Saint John Police is seeking a Deputy Police Chief to provide leadership, strong level of integrity and inspire loyalty and confidence within the organization and the community. Key assignments will include, but not limited to, fulfilling the responsibilities of the Chief of Police in his absence; Incident Commander during major events, managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Administration Office; developing, implementing, exemplifying and enforcing the operating philosophy of the Saint John Police; responsible for the administration of various unionized working agreements; ensuring members of the organization perform their duties in accordance with the New Brunswick Police Act and Regulations and participating in the development of the annual operating and capital budgets.
As an experienced law enforcement executive, you will drive continuous improvement to optimize police services to meet the changing needs of the community. You will be part of the Senior Command Team to aid in leading the organization in innovation. You will possess a track record of effectively solving problems and mentoring future leaders. You have a history of championing high levels of member and community engagement and being responsive to community needs and concerns. As a strategic communicator, you have a proven record of achieving organizational, public service and change management excellence. You are highly regarded as an inclusive relationship builder that places great value on earning the confidence of others through leveraging team building, community engagement, and nurturing strong external partnerships and stakeholders.
As the successful candidate, you bring to the position extensive knowledge of contemporary principles and procedures of police administration, including those related to patrol, traffic management, community engagement and criminal investigations. You have a proven record of effectively leading change, solving problems creatively and mentoring future leaders. You have a minimum of ten years senior police management experience and a history of championing high levels of member and community engagement. As a strategic visionary, you understand operating and capital budgets and have assisted in budget implementation and administration.
