You can take on issues management and lead positive change while ensuring accountability. As Chief of Police, you will be a visible presence while establishing strong ties based on openness and trust between the police service and the diverse communities it serves. Working with the Board, your leadership team, service members and community partners, you will inspire all while ensuring open communication and establishing new priorities that will meet evolving needs.






Qualifications / Required Skills

As the new Chief, you have deep and varied experience as a policing executive, are known to be a courageous and transformative leader, are committed to positive community engagement and have both the political acuity and emotional intelligence to listen, recognize and act on the needs of the community while supporting service members.

Employer Profile

Kawartha Lakes Police Service provides policing to approximately 29,000 residents, businesses, and visitors that spans the Lindsay/Ops area. The Service has a compliment of approximately 75 members, including sworn and civilians with a net operating budget of just over $8,935,190.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Services Board (KLPSB) is responsible for the provision of police services in the area. The KLPSB is the civilian governing authority comprised of five members; including two members of City Council, two Provincial appointees, and one citizen appointed by City Council.

Our vision is “Leading our community towards a safer tomorrow”. As our Chief of Police your mandate is to oversee the provision of adequate and effective policing for the citizens of the Lindsay/Ops area and the trustee for the community’s safety and security. The KLPSB is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the standards issued by the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

The Board recently conducted a survey and focus group sessions with the public and community partners from a variety of social and economic backgrounds to better understand needs. As a result, a new strategic plan was developed to ensure the Service is well positioned to support the community into the future. Outcomes of this process included a new mission statement “To provide professional policing in a manner that is fair and just to all, in partnership with our community” and 20 objectives designed to support members, provide a progressive and responsive service, collaboration with community partners, while ensuring the trust and confidence of the public.

Looking ahead, the Chief will embrace the vison and mission statements, the new strategic plan and will inspire the service to continue to use forward thinking approaches that will continue to meet the needs of the city’s diverse communities and the growing population.
