A CACP National Forum: Sisters in Service
septembre 17, 2026 - janvier 13, 2027

We’re excited to invite you to Sisters in Service (SiS) — a free, informal discussion series created by and intended for female police leaders.
These are not typical webinars. There’s no keynote speaker or lecture — just real, honest conversations facilitated in a supportive space. Each session is an opportunity to connect with other women in policing, share experiences, and explore leadership challenges and successes together.
Whether you're just stepping into a leadership role or have years of experience, SiS offers a place to listen, learn, and be heard.
Open exclusively to CACP Members.
Hard Conversations You Avoid - “What are you not saying—and why?”
September 17, 2026 @12:30 - 13:30 EST
Every leader has conversations they know they need to have—but for one reason or another, they keep putting them off. Whether it's a difficult discussion with a peer, a board member, a subordinate, or even a trusted colleague, avoidance often comes at a cost.
In this Sisters in Service conversation, participants will explore the barriers that prevent leaders from addressing difficult issues directly, including concerns about relationships, reputation, conflict, and unintended consequences. Together, we will examine the tension between protecting ourselves and fulfilling our leadership responsibilities, while sharing practical approaches for preparing for, initiating, and navigating challenging conversations with confidence and clarity.
Join us for an honest discussion about the conversations that keep us up at night—and the courage it takes to finally have them.
Hosted by: Kim Nicholson, Executive Director, Winnipeg Police Service
Crisis Leadership: The Personal Toll - "What does crisis leadership actually cost you?”
November 18, 2026 @12:30 - 13:30 EST
In moments of crisis, leaders are expected to project calm, provide direction, and make critical decisions under intense pressure. While much attention is paid to the operational response, far less is said about the personal impact these experiences can have on those leading through them.
In this Sisters in Service conversation, participants will explore the often-unseen toll of crisis leadership, including the emotional residue that can linger long after an incident has ended, the cumulative effects of decision fatigue, and the challenges of carrying responsibility while maintaining a composed public presence. Through candid discussion and shared experiences, we will examine strategies for sustaining resilience, processing difficult events, and supporting ourselves and one another through the demands of leadership in extraordinary circumstances.
Join us for an open conversation about the human side of crisis leadership—and what it takes to carry the weight of command while continuing to lead effectively.
Hosted By: Deputy Chief Trish Ferguson, M.O.M., Ottawa Police Service
The Loneliness of Command - “Who do you talk to when you can’t talk to anyone?”
January 13, 2027 @12:30 - 13:30 EST
Leadership can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be surprisingly isolating. As responsibilities grow and the stakes become higher, many leaders find themselves with fewer places to turn for candid advice, honest feedback, or simply a safe space to work through challenges.
In this Sisters in Service conversation, participants will explore the unique realities of leadership isolation, including managing uncertainty and self-doubt while maintaining confidence, navigating difficult decisions, and building trusted networks of support. Through open discussion and shared experiences, we will examine practical strategies for cultivating meaningful peer relationships and creating the trusted inner circles that help leaders thrive.
Join us for a candid conversation about one of leadership's least discussed challenges—and the connections that can make all the difference.
Hosted By: Superintendent Nadine Wagner, Calgary Police Service
Ambition—Still Allowed? - "How do you talk about wanting more, when you’re already at the top?”
To Be Confirmed
For many women leaders, ambition is celebrated early in their careers but becomes more complicated as they advance. Expectations shift, opportunities narrow, and expressing a desire for something more can sometimes be met with scrutiny or misunderstanding.
In this Sisters in Service conversation, participants will explore what ambition looks like at senior levels of leadership and how it evolves over the course of a career. Together, we will discuss navigating perceptions and potential backlash, redefining personal and professional success, and finding purpose and growth after reaching goals that once seemed distant. Whether your next chapter involves greater leadership, new challenges, mentorship, or something entirely different, this session offers an opportunity to reflect on what comes next—and to give yourself permission to pursue it.
Join us for an honest discussion about ambition, fulfillment, and continuing to grow long after you've "made it."
