Colin Murray is an executive with Defence Research and Development Canada, now serving as a Senior Advisor embedded with the US Department of Homeland Security, First Responder Group. Colin initially served as a pilot within the Royal Canadian Airforce, which included numerous multi-national deployed operations that spanned the Cold War to the War on Terror. In 2006 Colin concluded his time with the Joint Staff and joined DRDC to help establish the Centre for Security Science where he has served as a Director, focused on the mobilization of innovation to support domestic and multinational safety and security operations in the interest of Community safety. He has lead teams of emergency responders, engineers, and scientists, pushing boundaries to enhance the well-being of Canadian communities and their resilience to 'shock', through the integration of science, technology and innovation at the local, regional, and national levels. Colin is active on a number of committees dedicated to Community well-being, and currently sits as a board member for the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Research Foundation. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, The Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, and earned his Master’s in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University.
