EDMONTON, ALBERTA – A new chapter in the leadership of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police begins today with the election of Chief Fady Dagher as President.

Members of the CACP elected Chief Dagher, Chief of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), during Part II of the Association's Annual General Meeting held during the 121st CACP Annual Summit in Edmonton, Alberta. Chief Dagher succeeds Commissioner Thomas Carrique of the Ontario Provincial Police, whose presidency began in 2024.

Throughout a policing career spanning more than three decades, Chief Dagher has become known for a leadership approach rooted in innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. He has championed initiatives focused on strengthening public trust, enhancing community safety, and fostering meaningful partnerships with diverse communities.

As President of the CACP, Chief Dagher will help guide the Association's efforts to advance innovative and inclusive police leadership, support public safety priorities, and ensure that the perspectives of police leaders are represented in important national conversations affecting communities across Canada.
