Job Description / Duties
Holland College is seeking a highly motivated bilingual (French/English) individual to join our Atlantic Police Academy (APA) team. The Learning Manager will participate in the delivery of a variety of skills which may include, but are not limited to: Firearms, Use of Force, and Scenario Training. The successful candidate will be responsible to:
-Deliver public safety training to new students, and/or seasoned officers, for all the APA’s programs, as per the approved course training standard (CTS).
-Evaluate and monitor student progress.
-Support student success.
-Ensure a safe and respectful working environment at all times.
-Assist in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training classes and courses.
-Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
-Maintain personal, professional certifications.
-Work flexible hours on occasion, to assist with the delivery of training.
-Other duties as required.
Qualifications / Required Skills
-Must be a graduate of a police academy or public safety training recognized by Federal or Provincial legislation, having served a minimum of seven years, and having left in good standing.
-Applicants must have operational experience within the past three years.
-Applicants must have Instructor/trainer certification in a recognized defensive tactics system (ie: pressure point control tactics (PPCT), and/or be an agency recognized firearms instructor.
-Applicants must have a minimum of five years as a skills trainer within the realm of public safety portfolio (Police/Corrections/CBSA/CSIS). Experience must be recent – having delivered skills training within the past three years.
-Carbine Instructor, Active Attacker / Active Shooter Instructor, Driver Training Instructor, Collision Reconstruction, Breath Technician, RADAR / LIDAR certifications are all assets.
-Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
-High degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, comfortable working in a digital environment and commitment to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.
-Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships in a team environment is required.
-Prior teaching and supervisory experience will be considered assets.
-Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
-Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours as required.
Additional Information
Learning Manager as per Schedule A of the Faculty Agreement between Holland College and the PEI Union of Public Sector
The successful candidate will be expected to show proof of credentials.
As a condition of employment, Faculty must complete a two-year (part-time) Certificate in Adult Education program. To achieve continuing status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty must successfully complete the program within their probationary period.
The successful candidate will be required to provide criminal background, financial and vulnerable sector checks in accordance with Provincial requirements.
Salary: $37.25 to $55.08/hr (35hrs/wk)
